Due to the success of Vespa & Lambretta, the german motorcycle manufacturer Zundapp decided to jump on the bandwagon by introducing the Zundapp Bella in 1953. A version of the Bella called the Suburbanette was offered to the US market, but it was not popular at the time & only 370 were ever sold. There is a healthy network of Zundapp owners clubs from where you may be able to source both machines & spares, but do check Ebay in the various countries shown below, you never know what may turn up!! 1953 Zundapp Bella Engine Size: 1953 to 55 - 146cc From 1955 plus a 197cc From 1961 plus a 175cc First Produced: 1953
The first Zundapp Bellas had the 146cc two stroke engine with a 4 speed fully syncro gearbox, kickstart & telescopic front suspension. When the 197cc version was introduced in 1955 an electric start was an option, plus the front suspension was revised to a leading link assembly. From 1961 to 1964 a 175cc version was also available. |

The 50cc model introduced in 1964 looked like a cross between a Vespa & Lambretta & stayed in production with only minor alterations during its 20 years life span. |
