The first Puch scooter model come off the production line was the R125 in 1953, this was to take advantage of the growing popularity of this form of transport at that time.

Puch scooters were known for their rugged reliability & were exported to many European countries & USA. There is a healthy network of Puch owners clubs from where you may be able to source both machines & spares, but do check Ebay in the various countries shown below, you never know what may turn up!! Puch R125 Scooter

The first Puch scooters had a 125cc two stroke engine coupled to a rod operated three speed gearbox & hand lever clutch. Wheels were 12" diameter & the scooter was started with a kickstart.

This model not only benefited from minor cosmetic improvements, but it also gained the option of an electric start. The rear bodywork was hinged at the front so when opened gave excellent access to the mechanical components.

The Puch Alpine range proved to be the most popular of all, it retained many of the features of the previous models, but the engine was uprated to 150cc & the braking was improved.  All in all this model gave a very comfortable ride & remained in production in more or less the same format until 1966 when scooters started to go out out of fashion due to the influx of Japanese machines.
