During the 1950's the German motorcycle manufacturer Maico produced two notable scooters, the Maicoletta & Maicomobil both of which are now rare & much sought after by collectors.

The two models of Maico scooters were distributed mainly in Europe & there is a healthy network of owners clubs from where you may be able to source both machines & spares, but do check Ebay in the various countries shown below, you never know what may turn up!! Failing that, please do not hesitate to e.mail us - we may just have the contact you need.

The Mobil originally had a 150cc single cylinder two-stroke engine mounted between the dashboard and the rider's seat. Access panels on both sides of the Mobil could be removed to work on the engine. The 3 speed gears were operated by a twistgrip. The engine capacity was increased to 173cc in 1953. An optional 198cc became available in 1955. This year also saw the three speed twistgrip replaced by a four speed transmission controlled by foot pedal.
