The Harley Davidson Topper was the only scooter that the company produced. It was manufactured between 1959 & 1965. The Topper was sold mainly in USA, although it is worth a search now & again through the various Ebay sites in different countries to see if something turns up. Harley Davidson Topper Engine Size: 165cc First Produced: 1954
Harley Davidson only ever manufactured one scooter, which was known as the Topper. It was powered by a two stroke 165cc engine coupled to the'Scootaway Drive' continuous variable transmission. Early models suffered problems with the open drive belt when road dirt would get onto it & cause slippage. This was rectified on models from 1961 onwards by enclosing the drive in a sealed oil bath. This model is called the 'Topper H'. A de-tuned version named the 'Topper U' was also available, in some US states this allowed some riders to use it without a licence & at a younger age. Production of the Harley Davidson Topper ceased in 1965. |
